HUBBY'S AFFECTION

Past few weeks weren't very easy. With all the tension and uncertainty of my higher studies and the sudden concern about my hubby's funding (which so far is totally okay, we just panicked a bit), I completely lost the mood to cook anything at all. Even if I did, I didn't have much of an appetite. My hubby is more efficient in doing the dishes than cooking, so he seldom cooks. But to cheer me up, my dearest hubby ended up preparing a number of meals. Somehow, he knew just what to prepare. By now, he developed the idea that I am crazy about kichuri. Or it could be because kichuri is the only thing I taught him to cook, LOL!
The first magnificent meal was around four in the morning, I was in such a foul mood that my hubby despite of being busy with his research work, he noticed my uncomfortable shifting on the bed (my way to seek his attention). Since we were starting to get hungry, my hubby offered to prepare kichuri (the food that makes me happy!). I taught him the simplest method so he added the rice, lentils and water in the rice cooker, seasoned it with salt, red chili powder and turmeric powder and let it cook on its own. Once done, he sided the kichuri with fried egg and my homemade pickled vegetables. Boy was it tasty! It definitely lifted my mood to a certain extent but it wasn't enough. So to compensate that, my hubby prepared lunch the next day, yes two consecutive meals! Isn't that a treat? He somehow decided to prepare kichuri again, but this time my favorite kind. He followed the same method as he did in the morning but added in some extra shrimps and spinach. When sided with my homemade pickle, I couldn't hold back my cheerful self. Normally, we have less amount of rice for our lunch and dinner, so I often prepare a small meal around six in the evening. But the next day, my hubby wanted me to taste "মুড়ি ভাজা" (toasted puffed rice). I don't remember my mom making it for me but I couldn't help agreeing to it. So in a frying pan, he toasted some puffed rice and then added in some salt, chili flakes and chopped onions. It was so good, gosh! A perfect snack for watching sitcoms together. He sure did manage to seal my good mood deal. Like duh! who doesn't want to get pampered like that, right?
Though this wasn't like the typical blogs I write, I thought sharing few of my other experiences surrounded by food would be fun. How food makes me happy, how cooking calms me down, how I prepare weird food to fill myself up and many more! I hope you enjoy reading this side of my life.
