I've made meat sauce numerous times before. With all the ingredients, I was all set to prepare it again. However, it suddenly hit me, I've never made meatballs. Why not try that out? So I ended up preparing meatball and my special sauce to go with my spaghetti. People often make meatball sauce, that is they add the meatballs to the sauce but I like the crispy texture of the meatballs, which is usually lost when the meatballs are soaked in the sauce.

Here goes the recipe behind it, I hope you like it.

There are basically three parts to this recipe:

  1. Meatball

  2. Sauce

  3. Spaghetti

MEATBALLS For seasoning, a mix of ground spices, red chili powder, ginger paste and salt were added to ground beef. My mixture of ground spices includes mainly cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and black pepper. To bind the meat together so that they don't break down when fried, all-purpose flour, baking powder and one egg were added. I like my meatballs rather crunchy so to add the crunchy element,  I used Italian flavored breadcrumbs and corn meal. I mixed everything up really well and marinated it for about 30 minutes. Always use hands to mix thoroughly so that the elements combine well. Then simply, form the meatballs and deep fry them. Ingredients: 1/2 tsp   ground spices 1/2 tsp   red chili powder 2 tsp      ginger paste 1/2 tsp   salt 3 cups   ground beef 1/2 tsp  all-purpose flour 1 pcs    whole egg 1/2 tsp  Italian flavored bread crumbs 1/2 tsp  corn meal 1/4 tsp  baking powder

SAUCE I don't make a sauce from scratch but I haven't really found any store bought sauce to my taste so I tweak a little. To prepare the sauce, I first heat up a frying pan and saute some chopped onions and chopped green chili with minced garlic. Once it got the golden brownish color, I added salt, cherry tomatoes, milk and pasta sauce to it. To give it a Bangladeshi zing, I used coriander powder, red chili powder, and cumin powder. I allowed it to simmer for a while. Just about 5 minutes before turning off the heat, I added a whisked egg to add a little thickness to the sauce. You have to be very careful while adding the egg. It is extremely important to keep stirring or you will end up with chunks of eggs in the sauce. Ingredients: 1 tbsp    chopped onion 2 pcs     green chili 1 tsp      minced garlic 1/4 tsp   salt 4 pcs     cherry tomatoes 2 tbsp    milk 2 cups   pasta sauce 1/4 tsp   coriander powder 1/4 tsp   red chili powder 1/4 tsp   cumin powder  1 pcs     whole egg

SPAGHETTI It's very basic, boil a bowl of water, add a pinch of salt and oil. Bring it to boil, add the spaghetti and wait for it to cook. On a plate, place a good amount of spaghetti, top it with a generous amount of sauce and meatballs and voila! delicious spaghetti with meatball is ready to be served.
